- According to Cls.cn news, Yutao Ota, President of Kioxia, stated at a recent earnings briefing held on the 2nd that the company has launched evaluations for constructing new plants at its Kitakami site. The project is scheduled to commence production after 2029-2030, with expanded investment aimed at meeting robust market demand. Kioxia’s NAND flash memory is produced at its Yokkaichi and Kitakami facilities, where two factories have already been completed so far.
Meanwhile, Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, announced publicly at Computex Taipei that its subsidiary SK Hynix plans to double its wafer production capacity within the next five years. He also pointed out that the AI-driven memory supply shortage will last at least until 2030.
